I go down to the river often and immerse myself in its magical waters. The trees are all around me and sometimes the kingfisher shoots by me like a flash of blue. Other times it is perched on a branch, so tiny and serene.
The background is created with several layers of acrylic and textured oil paint, copper and gold leaf which give this painting depth and a beautiful glow. The kingfisher is painted with oils and fine brushes.
